“I look forward to experiencing a sense of ‘quiet, peaceful energy’ at the end of each class. I expected the improvement in flexibility, balance and the appreciation of strength. And HIYS helped me work through some physical challenges that have occurred over the years. But the enjoyment of this quiet energy is the gift that keeps me coming back.”

FREE CLASSES
students in class

Before each 10- or 12-week session, we hold a week of free classes. Come to as many as you like, to meet the teachers and discover how it feels to do Iyengar Yoga. The class will be similar to what you’ll experience at the first class of the session.

Our next series of FREE INTRODUCTORY CLASSES will be held the week of January 30. To register, please call the studio at 713.527.9100, or click here to email Constance.

We provide mats and any other props you may need, though you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer.

Come with an empty stomach, or eat lightly no less than two hours before class. Wear shorts or tights. (Baggy pants and bell-bottoms obscure your view—and your teacher’s view—of your knees and ankles.)

I have been telling everyone about HIYS especially other young people with any kind of chronic or sporadic body pain. My daily aches and pains disappeared while practicing at Iyengar, while they returned very quickly after I stopped attending regular classes. I’d also say Joyce and Constance are the most knowledgeable and skilled teachers I have ever encountered. I always leave happy, energized, and surprised by what I was able to accomplish in class.”
